The Henry Luce Foundation has awarded Iona College a grant of $120,000 through its Clare Boothe Luce (CBL) Program, and Dr. Lee is the CBL Program Director. The prestigious grant will support CBL Undergraduate Research awards for women who are majoring in the physical sciences, mathematics, and computer science – fields where women have been historically underrepresented nationally. “This grant will provide a truly transformative experience for our women in science at Iona. Science is all about action. Being able to get involved in research early in their undergraduate career in the physical sciences, mathematics, and computer science, will help enhance their confidence and further catalyze their pursuit of excellence both professionally and personally,” said Sunghee Lee, Ph.D., Board of Trustees endowed professor of science, chair of chemistry, and CBL program director at Iona College. “I am very excited to see the enthusiasm this grant will bring to the campus, not only to women in science but the wider Iona community.”
